Singing belongs with the birds (2020) is an experimental short film, directed, produced and edited by Amanda Teixeira during the pandemic lockdown. It has as a starting point a book about Brazilian birds that belonged to the director’s lost father. As we dive into the book’s content and the director’s memory surrounding it, what emerges is the Brazilian colonial history, its effects nowadays, presences and absences. In a stream of thoughts, the movie entangles personal and political.
This project was supported by the call Financiamento de Projetos Culturais Digitais, from the Pró Cultura RS FAC Fundo de Apoio a Cultura in partnership with Feevale University.
